About Lalithanjani Pala

Lalithanjani Pala (Anju) is a self-taught contemporary and abstract artist whose work explores the beauty, movement, and emotional language of the natural world. Born and raised in India, her relationship with art began in childhood, nurtured by a deep curiosity for color, form, and creative expression. Although Anju pursued a degree in technology and built a career with a multinational corporation, art remained an enduring part of her life. After moving to the United States, she embraced her long-held passion and transitioned into a full-time artistic practice, establishing her studio in Plano, Texas. Working across acrylics, oils, mixed media, and alcohol inks, Anju has continually explored the expressive possibilities of each medium. Over the past six years, alcohol inks have become her primary medium and artistic language. Drawn to their fluidity, transparency, spontaneity, and luminous color, she embraces the balance between intention and unpredictability that the medium offers. Through layering, movement, and organic forms, she transforms fluid color into contemporary compositions that invite viewers to pause, feel, and connect. Nature is at the heart of Anju’s practice. Flowers, landscapes, organic forms, and the rhythms of the natural world serve as recurring sources of inspiration. Her work reflects themes of growth, resilience, transformation, movement, mindfulness, and quiet beauty—often translating personal experiences and emotional states into vibrant visual narratives. Her artistic sensibility was shaped by her mother, whose own creativity was expressed through painting on pots, sarees, and ceramic vessels, along with intricate embroidery. Growing up surrounded by these handmade expressions of beauty instilled in Anju an appreciation for craftsmanship, pattern, color, and the intimate connection between art and everyday life. Alongside her studio practice, Anju enjoys plein air painting, particularly capturing blooming fields and landscapes directly from nature. She also shares her creative journey through workshops, demonstrations, and art education programs, encouraging others to explore artistic expression as a pathway to creativity, presence, and personal transformation. Today, Anju’s artworks have been exhibited in galleries, cultural spaces, and juried exhibitions across Texas and are held in private collections in the United States, India, Australia, and Mexico. Through her work, she hopes to create more than an image—to create a moment of stillness, wonder, and connection between the viewer and the natural world.
